After F16 installation, Xwindow fails to start

When I upgraded my Dell Studio, GT 220 Nvidia from F14 to F16 , there is an error at the end of installation. Anyway, I continued to reboot, but failed to start Xwindow, I switched to console mode. Following F16 installation guide in this forum, I installed nvidia driver, but still failed to get Xwindow. I tried startx in console. I saw the following error,

/usr/bin/gnome-session:symbol lookup error: /usr/lib64/libgtk-3.so.0 undefined symbol:g-application-get-type

Then I downloaded Nvidia NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-290.10.run, when installed it, I encountered
/usr/lib64/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so not symbolic.
I installed it again, no error this time. I run startx, I got the same error

/usr/bin/gnome-session:symbol lookup error: /usr/lib64/libgtk-3.so.0 undefined symbol:g-application-get-type

I got stuck in the middle. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks

Kai

the nvidia part may cause trouble. did you follow the nvidia how2 from this forum on http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=204752?

my experience is that you can do the nvida part in terminal mode -- runlevel 3

at boot hit the spacebar and add " 3" (without quotation marks) at the end of the topmost kernel line. then reboot.

with a second box at hand you can retype the commands. alternatively you could use a text only browser like lynx.

Yes, I followed how2. I have been at run-level 3.

Re: After F16 installation, Xwindow fails to start

After I recompiled gtk+-3.2.2, I made progress. I can bring Xwindow up, but curor is always busy. But if I start Xwindow in console, I can get Xwindow work, but there is no sound. I can see some error messages from the console like
Failed to load module "pk-gtk-module" and "canberra-gtk-module" and so on.
Any idea of how to proceed?
