To use it :
Install this packages with yum :
xsane, sane-backends, sane-frontends, xsane-gimp (to use xsane directly in gimp)
You can check if there packages are already installed with this command :
rpm - qa |grep -i name_of_the_package
, for eg : rpm -qa | grep -i sane
After this, you have to download the firmware of the scanner
. IT'S ONLY FOR THE EPSON PERFECTION 1670 OR EPSON PERFECTION 1670 PHOTO
You can find it here
Copy this file in /usr/share/epson.
Now, as root, edit this file : /etc/sane.d/snapscan.conf
You will find, at the beginning this line :
change it to :
Save it and close it.
Now plug your scanner in a usb port.
To check if your scanner is recognize try this commands :
If it's OK, in a console, run xsane like this : xsane &
It might be a little time to launch because firmware have to be uploaded to the scanner.

P.S : I'm not a specialist ine photography and i'm searching a good tuto to reduce the "moiré" effect when i scan a image (with gimp or directly tuning with scan parameters). I don't know the word in english, a picture would be better :-)
