Fedora 16 Freeze issues

Hi

F16 is still freezing all time... I need to be really careful with it - Like handling a large fish-bowl of water with just a few fingers.

Like when I boot, and get the login screen, I shouldn't try to increase the brightness, I shouldn't use the keyboard until the mouse is initialized, I shouldn't increase the brightness after logging in, until the desktop screen appears... Do any of these things and that's it, the system is stuck. I cant even switch to Single User Mode (ctrl+shift+f<> )

Only solution is a hard reset. I removed all kernel modules for Nvidia also now. Fedora has been having issues with Graphics chipsets for too long now... I think its time its fixed.

Any solutions for these kind of issues?

# kmod-nvidia depends strongly on the kernel version
yum -y install kmod-nvidia
yum -y update kmod-nvidia kernel
# or
yum -y update kmod-nvidia kernel --enablerepo=*
# should help with stability, reset your BIOS settings if you have modified anything

I've had the same issue in both fedora (using KDE) and kubuntu on my dell studio 1558 which has an ATI card. Does using the open source drivers help?

What is freezing? Is it fedora or the window manager?
I can freeze the window manager at will on F15 with xscreensaver.
I have a bug report in and there is a fix in the kernel.
Anhyway, I am able to ssh in during an apparent freeze.
Be sure to look in your messages file to see if there are errors there when it happens.
