Getting a scanner to work

I've got my new printer working; now, I want to get the scanner working properly. The scanner tool doesn't find it, but sane-find-scanner does. I've checked the list of supported scanners and it's not there, but the list hasn't been updated in over a year. (Canon MX410) I know I've done this before, as my old printer worked fine as a scanner, but I've forgotten what to do. If it's important, I'm running a fully-updated F16 with XFCE.

And the next msg in that thread.

In my experience with Canon, you need to install scangearmp from Canon, then run scangearmp from terminal. This will start a scanning GUI app that works with the Canon scanner.

Re: Getting a scanner to work

Thanx, Beaker, the second link was just what I needed. I've added it to the appropriate menu.
