[SOLVED] Getting a scanner to work

I've got my new printer working; now, I want to get the scanner working properly. The scanner tool doesn't find it, but sane-find-scanner does. I've checked the list of supported scanners and it's not there, but the list hasn't been updated in over a year. (Canon MX410) I know I've done this before, as my old printer worked fine as a scanner, but I've forgotten what to do. If it's important, I'm running a fully-updated F16 with XFCE.

In my experience with Canon, you need to install scangearmp from Canon, then run scangearmp from terminal. This will start a scanning GUI app that works with the Canon scanner.
