Whoops sorry guys didn't think there was a time limit, I just don't have access to my laptop this weekend. I return home in a few hours though

Leigh that was definitely the issue! Thanks a ton and sorry for being so distant with this topic just a crazy busy weekend. I do have to note that while the default issue was fixed it still doesn't seem like grub2 parses the file unless I use the grub2-mkfont command first, then I'm able to edit a splash screen.Without doing the mkfont It doesn't read my /etc/default/grub entries
