DBelton: Thanks very much. Running prelink -ua allowed me to once again login
to KDE.
As noted in my OP, I can't boot kernel 3.3, so I booted kernel 3.2.10, logged
in to failsafe mode, and ran prelink -ua. Following this I tried again to boot
kernel 3.3. It still doesn't boot. So I rebooted kernel 3.2.10 where I was able
to login to KDE.
As for kernel 3.3 not booting, I browsed /var/log/messages. I note there: "kdm:
X server died during startup"

Further investigating why kernel 3.3.0 doesn't boot shows it to also be an
nvidia driver issue.
My Xorg.O.log.old (for kernel 3.3.0 boot) shows "Failed to load the NVIDIA
kernel module"
That issue is discussed in this thread: "Kernel 3.3.0 update, nvidia kernel
module issue"
