Generally, you'll get minimal performance increase over the pre-built binaries. The only way to get even human-visible performance increases requires building the entire system from scratch (aka Gentoo). And, to be honest, if the instructions for using konstruct are a bit beyond you, I'd stay away from building stuff from sources for a bit. Unless, of course, you don't mind that you could (in an absolute possible worst-case scenario) trash a system bad enough that the only thing you could do would be a fresh install. This isn't a put-down, but rather a cautious approach (having done the worst-case bit myself - and I'm a professional programmer).
