Question How to save or backup SKYPE chat history ?

I am using Fedora 14 and Skype (Beta) Version 2.1.0.81

Want to do a fresh install of Fedora 16. How do I save my chat history and reinstall it in my new OS ?

Thanks!

Edit: I did an upgrade to the F14 machine... Skype is now (Beta) Version 2.2.0.35

Thought this would be best before using the current files in a fresh load of F16.

Please let me know if anybody has thoughts about the process or installation steps on the new machine.

Thanks again!
-Bob

Re: How to save or backup SKYPE chat history ???

I have not used skype on linux but I am going to take a shot at this! Perhaps the first place I would look for is ~/.skype (/home/username/.skype). Do you have this folder at all? If this exists, start from there!

Re: How to save or backup SKYPE chat history ?

Thanks for the reply !!

Found the files in ~/.Skype ..and they are binary.

call*.dbb - files that keep the call history
chatmsg*.dbb and chat*.dbb - files that keep the chat history
profile*.dbb - files that keep user profile details
user*.dbb - files that keep users profiles details
transfer*.dbb – files that keep transfer information

Does anyone know what the numbers stand for?

Can files from several computers be combined into one? i.e. laptop & desktop

I tried a
