Changing themes in F17
Yeah I know it's not officially released yet, but it's less than 24hrs away. Anyway, after doing much research, I can't figure out a way to change themes in gnome shell. Is there a fool proof way to do it? Btw, my gnome tweak tool crashes with user theme extension installed.

Re: Changing themes in F17
Are you getting "glib_settings" error when tweak-tool crashes? If so, what would possibly be needed is below -
Do you have gnome-shell-extension-common installed? If you had used yum to install user-theme, gnome-tweak-tool does not crash (at least for me). If you used extensios.gnome.org, to add the user theme extension, you might need to install the package I have stated.
I am using Alternative/Elegance right now and what I mentioned above is what I did.

Re: Changing themes in F17
Thanks, I installed gnome-shell-extension-common and gnome-shell-extension-user-theme, and I got it to work.
One other thing you may be able to help me with. How do I change how folders look in nautilus? I can't find anything that works.

Ah! That's something I have not tried changing yet. However, you could try changing the icon themes in gnome-tweak-tool. In Linux mint, for example, the icon theme is something called Mint-X or Mint-Z. I believe it is available in gnome-look.org.

Re: Changing themes in F17
After I installed k3b, I was able to get the oxygen icon theme to work. Good enough for me right now. Thanks.

I don't mean to question your wisdom, but f17 is mere hours away from release and is not going to change from now until then.

Re: Changing themes in F17
John, I know what you mean, but we set out those rules and really need to follow them. This time it would be just hours away, then next release it might be a couple of days and so on.
Besides, it clusters F17 stuff in one area which could help new members who are installing it tomorrow and have issues. And, too, your problem was solved so there's no need to keep the discussions going once this sub-Forum's archived tomorrow.
