You sling sudo commands around so pdbedit -L failed (ran as regular, unprivileged user). However I see jn's home directory listed so that user clearly has successfully logged it. To be sure
I'm assuming you're tapping on QSERVER. Paste the output of: smbclient //QSERVER/jn -I 127.0.0.1 -U jn
ls
exit

Re: Samba Issue!
Ok. So jn can log in... Back on ?? post you were referring to mounting QF and not the homes directory?
Lets try QF
Paste the output of:
smbclient //QSERVER/QF -l 127.0.0.1 -U jn
ls
exit

Re: Samba Issue!
I got an error, I looked inside my system-config-samba and all the user names were deleted? I added a few but still same error:
Code:
smbclient //QSERVER/QF -l 127.0.0.1 -U jn
[2012/08/13 13:56:36, 0] ../lib/util/debug.c:571(reopen_logs_internal)
Unable to open new log file '127.0.0.1/log.smbclient': Permission denied
session setup failed: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
Not sure if this helps too but:
Code:
$ getsebool -a | grep samba
samba_create_home_dirs --> on
samba_domain_controller --> on
samba_enable_home_dirs --> on
samba_export_all_ro --> on
samba_export_all_rw --> on
samba_portmapper --> on
samba_run_unconfined --> on
samba_share_fusefs --> on
samba_share_nfs --> on
sanlock_use_samba --> on
use_samba_home_dirs --> on
virt_use_samba --> on
---------- Post added at 02:16 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:57 PM ----------
this is very bothersome. What is strange, everyone in the office can access the files no problem. There is a Vista that I recently did a fresh install on. I cannot use any username or password for it. So it is stuck not connecting to the server. My boss cannot either!
On the server itself, if I go to the GUI network folder. I have to click on Windows Network. Click on Q and it stalls eventually telling me it cannot mount.

Re: Samba Issue!
Ok.. So you're using system-config-samba to add users. That should force you to also select a system user. Step back and check tdbsam.
Paste the output of:
su
pdbedit -L
exit

Re: Samba Issue!
Ok. So you know they're there. Congrats, security is also in the filesystem.
paste the output of:
su
ls -l /home/queston/Desktop/
exit
I'm only really interested in Queston Files.

your path points to a non-existent directory. Your choice how to correct it; rename the directory or correct the path within smb.conf.

Re: Samba Issue!
Q F is Queston Files
when I do the testparm
browseable doesn't show
---------- Post added at 02:40 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:38 PM ----------
It is targeting the right file, I used system-config-samba to point to the folder

Re: Samba Issue!
Logically, I'm sure that is true. However the 8th column spells the directory name "Q A" which is not used in smb.conf.
---------- Post added at 05:52 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:49 PM ----------
Double check
Paste the output of:
su
cd /home/queston/Desktop/"Queston Files"
pwd
ls
cd /home/queston/Desktop/"Q F"
pwd
ls
exit

Re: Samba Issue!
It is accurate, I changed the post to Q F on this forum. It is targeting Queston Files on the server it does say Queston Files.

Then paste the output of
testparms
ls -l /home/queston/Desktop/
Don't edit them.
