getting sound from only one speaker?

hi folks,
when playing mp3s on xmms i only get sound from one of the speakers... can someone point me out where to check(besides the cables

)?

use the aumix tool -- check the balance.
I assume you have checked the left/Right balance in XMMS,

How many audio-out jacks are you using? If you are hearing sound at all, and you have already checked equalizer settings, then this is very likely hardware related. Check your speakers on another machine and make sure they aren't to blame.

balance in aumix is normal... and my sound system works when switching to radio...

Radio doesn't involve any wiring between the computer and the stereo system though. You need a more accurate test...

Hmm... that's strange then. Did you try playing sounds in other apps? Perhaps try playing a movie, or play music through rhythmbox or something?
