Scanner - Lack of xsane support, workaround? (solved)
OS: FC2
Printer/scanner: HP psc 1350 all in one
I supposedly have xsane installed, 0.92, and according to yum it is the most recent version.
My problem is that xsane will not detect my printer/scanner. When I went to their site it says it does not list the printer/scanner. So it is no surprise that it does not work lol. So what can I do? Is there any other scanner software out there? Thanks.

HP has a few open source projects that might help you out. First is the HP OfficeJet Linux driver project. I believe FC2 comes with RPMs for hpoj. Also, HP also has released hplip on the HP Linux Inkjet Driver Project which is supposed to be a replacement for hpoj and hpijs. According to the supported products page, hplip supports your printer/scanner.

the hp psc 1350 works fine with the hpoj that is on the FC3 disks. you need to run 'ptal-init setup' before scanning though, then scanning works fine too.

I am using FC2 though. But you are too late anyway, SuperNu's link was perfect Thanks, though
