Fedora Core 4 Grub

I have a 3 OS system (XP, FC3, and Suse). Suse contains my grub.conf file and XP and FC3 have entries (works great). I want to install FC4 and have it not write GRUB because I don't want to mess up what works and I use Suse for work.

What do you suggest -- tell anaconda to not write a GRUB entry at all, then how do I know what to enter into the Suse GRUB to boot FC4?

Anyone have suggestions? Thanks.

Let GRUB reinstall.

It should detect your SuSE.

If not, mount the SuSE partition, and copy the contents of the SuSE grub.conf into the fedora's grub.conf

My experience so far is: Ubuntu install of Grub trashed my Fedora 3 filesystem and Suse with YaST worked perfect detecting all OS.

I'm so cautious now. Is Anaconda really reliable in your opinion. Do you have multiple OS on your box where Anaconda wrote GRUB with no problems?

OK, in that case you can be cautious if you want.

Here is my grub.conf from FC4. You will only need to change the part about root(hd)

You can remove the rhgb and the quiet. They are just gimmicks to make a nice blue box around the bootup screen

just so you know (hd0,0) implies hda1. First 0 implies a, second 0 implies 1. (hd1,3) is hdb4

title Fedora Core (2.6.11-1.1369_FC4)
root (hd0,0)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.11-1.1369_FC4 ro root=LABEL=/ rhgb quiet
initrd /boot/initrd-2.6.11-1.1369_FC4.img

Thank you so much for taking the time to do that Tejas. Last thing, I assume when the FC4 install gets to the GRUB part, I do advanced boot options and click something like do not install GRUB. I can't remember from when I installed FC3. I assume it is similar with FC4?

Lastly, I should add the entry you provided to the Suse grub.conf file, correct (of course with the correct hd?? entries!)???
