anaconda (installer) does show GUI

hi there
I got myself a cool PC which is made to be in the leaving room meant to use as my entertainment center. My TV is Toshiba 43JS9UE (see http://www.toshiba.com.sg/__48256BAC...ts/TSPS-64M5JZ) with VGA/XGA input. I want to install Fedora Core 4 (by default it comes with Windows Media Center which works fine now ) but when the anaconda installer gets to the point of showing GUI (after the first page where you press "Enter" for regular GUI install) the screen goes blank. I don't mind installing w/o GUI but my assumption is that afterwords the X will not work if it doesn't at install time. This is a huge frustration, can anyone help?

The GUI installer not running does not mean that X will not work properly, although there is that possiblity. I would go ahead and install using the text based installer and see what happens. At worst X will not work but configuring xorg to work after an install a lot easier than trying to find out why anaconda doesn't work.

How to I find the right xorg.conf configuration for the TV?

the xorg.conf file is generated when you install the OS, so there really isn't any one specific file out there that will make it all work automagically. start with the xorg.conf file that is present after you install the OS and tweak it (if necessary) until you get the desired results.

Thanks, but "linux text" install does work also... screen is dark
