Mouse is Slow and Jerky

Hi

I have 2 PCs:
P3 500MHz which runs FC3
1.2GHz on which I have installed FC4

These machines are connected via a KVM to share mouse, keyboard and monitor.

The "slow" machine is fine (I was using as my main desktop as he other machine had windows on it).
On the "fast" machine the mouse is very slow and jerky when I move it.
I know it's not a mouse issue as it works fine on the other machine.
It is plugged into the PS2 port.

Any suggesions.....

Is it a FC4 thing? Should I just install FC3 on the other machine too ?

Quick update:
I just booted with no network caaable, it works finee.
Network in, kb and mmmouse go haywiree !

I tried a re-install of FC4, it's still the same, even during the install the mouse was wonky.
I'll try an install of FC3 tonight.

I just installed FC4 and am having the same slow jerky mouse issue. It was apparent during the install also. Did you figure out a solution?

Nothing yet,

I'm about to try bypassing the KVM and plugging them in directly.
If that fails then I'll try FC3.

I was using a USB mouse with a USB->PS2 converter plugged into a PS2 port. I just took off the converter and plugged into a USB port and the mouse works correctly.

I'd still like a better solution to the problem though so I could free up that USB port.

Update.

OK, I have gone for FC3 due to an installation error.

If I reboot my PC the mouse is slow and jerky.

If I shutdown and then power up the PC it is OK.

Any ideas?

Anybody have a solution for this?

I usually have problems with Redhat Dist's and KVM switches. Everything is fine if I start my computer up and have it selected on my KVM. But if I switch away and back at anytime if I move my mouse the cursor randomly moves and clicks, but always attempts to return to the lower left corner. Nothing fixes it until I reboot again.

At the console I get the following messages when it is not working…
“psmouse.c: Explorer Mouse at isa6000/serio1/input0 lost synchronization, throwing 3 bytes away.”

Very frustrating since I can load Mandrake or SUSE on the same box and it works fine.

I don;t think the kvm is at fault here as I have used it for a long time to switch between windows & fc3 machines.
It is now fc3 & fc3 machines.

I found if I unplug the mouse and plug it back in the mouse works fine.... *shrug*

I'm having the same problem. The mouse works fine with my 900MH Duron machine, but is slow and (as a result) jerky on my 3GH Pentium machine. Both are FC4 and I'm using an IOGEAR switch to use the same keyboard, mouse, and monitor for both machines. I'd rather not do any reinstalls. There's gotta be a better way. I noticed that, when I look at the Hardware Browser on both machines, the one that works well says ImExPS/2 Generic Explorer Mouse, but the bad one just says PS/2 Generic Mouse (under Pointing devices). Don't know how to change that yet.

As I said above it seemed to be the option to reboot that caused this problem.

I now just select power down, then press the button a few secs after the lights go out.
