hi thanks for the reply serdar. I actually got back into the graphical interface by pressing I to go to interactive loading, and not allowing sendmail to load. So i fixed the hosts file back how it was but still dont have a clue what to make it say!
I get this error "Could not look up internet address for localhostlocaldomain.
This will prevent GNOME from operating correctly.
It may be possible to correct the problem by adding
localhostlocaldomain to the file /etc/hosts."
Right now my hosts file says
# Do not remove the following line, or various programs
# that require network functionality will fail.
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
