Parallel port problem

Hi all, I am having trouble getting my parallel port to work in ECP mode in fedora core 4. I have set the port to ECP in the bios and I have added the following line to /etc/modprobe.conf:

options parport_pc init_mode=ecp

and restarted, but the kernel is still reporting that the port is in SPP mode:

"parport_pc.c: Specified parameter parport_init_mode=ecp
parport: PnPBIOS parport detected.
parport0: PC-style at 0x278 (0x678), irq 5 [PCSPP,TRISTATE]"

i am running kernel-2.6.14-1.1656_FC4 on a DFI lanparty UT nf3 250gb motherboard (which has an nforce 3 chipset)

If anyone can tell me how I can get ECP with DMA working on the parallel port I would be very gratefull.

Thanks

crispy
