Dissapointed with font rendering on LCD :/
I am a bit dissapointed. Today I installed FC5 Final on my laptop, set the resolution to its native (1280x800), saw the fonts in GNOME and... sorry to say, MS ClearType wins on that field . Since FC4 font rendering was perfect on my old CRT moitor, it is very blurry on my TFT display...
Any hacks maybe?

Have you set sub-pixel rendering for the fonts, I fold that helped.
Not having a go at you Are you sure you have set the resolution properly and that your TFT is native res. @ 1280x800 ?

Did you upgraded to FC5 or was it a fresh install ?
I noticed that the xorg.cfg has changed (the font server), and had some problems configuring xorg the right way...
my fonts are nice, anyway ;-)

[solved]
Ok, I must admin I got it wrong.
My desktop resolution at gnome screen preferences was 1280x800, and my lcd is set to 'generic lcd 1280x800', IN FACT the real resolution WAS 1024x768.
I got it solved with http://perso.wanadoo.fr/apoirier/

I am running FC5 on a secondary machine that had a good video card from three or four years ago, running on the analog connection into my Sony HS95 LCD. I have loaded the true type core fonts, and played extensively with the Gnome font settings and the Firefox font settings. I have been able to make progress and have a reasonable visual experience now. But it seems like it could be better.
There are a number of sites that have font-improvement recommendation, but most are a little dated. I would like to hear the current settings and changes that people are finding to be especially useful with FC5.
