Re: File conflict in F26 upgrade

Just deleting the file won't fix the problem. You need to uninstall the package that provides the file. You can try reinstalling the package after the upgrade completes.

Re: Testing the Nouveau driver

You get only ~60fps using glxgears because your vblank_mode is set to "sync with vertical refresh rate", which on most system monitors is usually 60Hz.

From a terminal, try setting vlank_mode to...

Re: Controllable Windows Anti-Virus

For Windows anti-virus, I used Avast (free edition) for several years. Over time, Avast grew more and more annoying with it's aggressiveness trying to get you to upgrade to paid solutions. I dumped...

Re: fedora 26 64 bit Mate Radiotray no codecs

I don't have radiotray installed, but checking the package requirements it does appear to use gtreamer as one of it's dependencies is gstreamer-python. There are many many gstreamer[1] plugin...

Re: booting into init 5, cannot restore multi-user.default

I really can't say, but obviously some configuration change due to removing so many other packages earlier. I personally don't use Gnome. If memory serves me, I believe there are one or two threads...

Re: booting into init 5, cannot restore multi-user.default

multi-user.target is cli (init3). For graphical, you need to specify graphical.target.

Re: Problem: package vlc-core-3.0.0-0.29 requires live555

It's just showing you the packages that are "available", not installed. Try,
# dnf list vlc*

Re: Problem: package vlc-core-3.0.0-0.29 requires live555

Since vlc-core requires a specific version live555, it may be that the newer version of live555 got pushed to rpmfusion-free-updates while the newer versions of vlc* that would require that version...

Re: My Laptop always boots to Windows instead of giving an OS option

You might want to mention which make/model of laptop you have. It could simply be that your UEFI firmware has W10 as the first in boot order. Once you have Fedora booted up, in a command terminal...

Re: Latest Chromium update removed whole chromium

The problem is that the RPMFusion package chromium-libs-media-freeworld -59.0.3071.104-1.fc25 got too far ahead of itself, as there still is no corresponding version 59 chromium packages from Fedora....

Re: Fedora 25 - Audio CDs are no longer accessible.

Normally, that's what I do also, but in this case on the laptop I opted to leave Parole installed as a backup media player. I always loved audacious and used it for several years. But moc has taken...

Re: Fedora 25 - Audio CDs are no longer accessible.

Like antikythera, I hadn't played an audio CD in either of my Fedora machines in ages. On my F25/Xfce laptop I just put in a commercial audio CD (music). The drive spun up, then went idle after...

Re: USB WiFi receiver not getting installed automatically

The lsmod command is showing that the mt7601u kernel module is automatically being loaded at boot up. The lsmod command lists the kernel modules that are currently loaded. No, I would not know why...

Re: My computer scares me...

As usual, a simple registry hack will put that girl to sleep on the Creators update. You also don't need to wait for the rolling roll out of the Creators update to roll around to you. MS has an exe...

Re: Wireless transfer of video and sound (Miracast ?)

Well, I wouldn't get overly confident with accomplishing that in its entirety. You'll need to do a lot of online research on what's possible, how it all works, or doesn't work. Consider also that...

Re: USB WiFi receiver not getting installed automatically

Right after a bootup, run the "lsmod | grep mt76" command to determine if it is automatically loaded or not. Just using modprobe to load a kernel module does not make it "load automatically".

Re: Wireless transfer of video and sound (Miracast ?)

You need to be more specific on the source of the media (video/audio) you want to stream to the TV's and also mention if any of the TV's you have are "smart" TV's, that is, possibly with built-in...

Re: Windows MBR shown as unallocated

Well, it's interesting that both gdisk and fdisk recognize the partition table but not gparted. When I ran the "sudo parted -l" on my desktop PC, it reported" Partition Table: msdos".
