Migrating Server to another machine

I have Fedora Core 6 on a IBM X3400 System. It is live ftp server with Static IP.

Now can I move that server to a machine with Pentium D Dual Core, 1 GB DDR2 without having to install anything.

If I do need to install a new version, can I atleast move all System / Network Configuration from old to new server ?

Please tell me in detail how to accomplish this task

I've found Linux to be very accepting of new hardware. The only trouble I've had moving an install between systems is with graphics drivers (I have nvidia installed).

Personally I'd give it a go just moving the disk over and booting it. If that doesn't work, move it back and then worry about getting the config files.

why not keep the FC6 server running while you set up the new server with CentOS or Debian. that way you have all the time you need, have your server up and migrate to a well supported server OS in one big action.

FC6 is unsupported for ages now, so even if you could I really wouldnt migrate it to a different server anymore. besides running an installed OS on different hardware in a live situation is asking for trouble imho.
