automount USB thumb drive in FC16

been using FC11 for a long time and decided it is time to upgrade.
got fc16 running.

on FC11 when I plugged in a usb thumb drive it'll automatically mount. the system will mount it under /media/DRIVE_NAME (e.g. if the drive label was JOE, it'll be mounted under /media/JOE).
since the update this functionality if gone. need help to fix it.

I would like:
1. for it to be mounted automatically.
2. under a new directory that corrosponded to the drive label
3. not have to be logged in as root.

all of the above worked in FC11.

I am not connected to the console of the system. either SSHing in or using VNC with gnome.

thanks in advance.

Re: automount USB thumb drive in FC16

For anyone who is interested :-) :

I did some digging and testing and found out that the issue is with ConsoleKit.
I start my VNC session after SSHing into the machine. doing it this way causes the sesion to show up as active=false in ck-list-sessions.
once I killed VNC and started it from the machines console, everything works just fine.

bottom line - seems like consoleKit doesn't work properly with ssh.

any further input would be appriciated.
