frozen at startup

I've been trying to install Fedora 8 all day today. My computer gets stuck starting up. the monitor turns off and when I go to the F1 screen it's stuck at.

/etc/fstab enabling swap space.

nothing happens after this point. However, when I run under the live CD it gets stuck here but then eventually breaks free. My installiation does not. Any thoughts?
