GNOME crashes after installing package

I am running fedora 16 on a 1GB live USB. I can install about 2 to 3 packages, but on the fourth, I will get the message "attempting to write to a read only database". After that GNOME crashes on shutdown. If I force a restart (hold power button), it will boot and fail to mount the rood filesystem.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Thanks in advance...
There are 10 different kinds of people in this world: those who understand binary and those who don't.
Fedora is awesome. I mean, it comes with Python so it must be awesome right?
