Question help with scanner in FC3

When I boot with my UMAX 4000U USB scanner I can't get the computer to detect it. Can someone please provide info for how (if it is even possible) I can get this to work?

I admit I'm ignorant on scanners interfacing with the Linux system and appreciate any help you can provide.
