begining programming

im just starting to learn how to program in C in linux though had somewhat little experience in C in windows.

i want to learn to programm in GTK+ and C in linux under the gnome enviroment so any ideas how i should go about and what books i should get?

On the left side of the page under Documentation. That is a good place to start.
