FC5/X Window Question
I have just installed Fedora FC5 and also installed the XServer package.
After adding the remote host auth via xhost + and setting the display variable to the IP address of the Fedora/Xserver we get the "Can't open display: IP Addr of Fedora/Xserver".
If someone could point me in the right direction....that would be great!
TIA,
wta

Careful -- they shoot people here for double posting!
I imagine the fedora firewall blocks the X port. That is probably your problem. It would be much more secure to tunnel your X connection through a ssh connection anyway. Leaving the X port open is a bit of a security risk.

Sorry for the double posting...it will not happen again....I just wasn't sure if I posted in the right area or not.
THe firewall is disabled. From I have been reading on a lot of web sites/forums is the the --nolisten for tcp. But, I cannot find where to enable listening?
Any help at this point would be great!
TIA, Bill

You are right: I can't get standard xhost or xauth authentication to work either. I have not tried it in years, since I always use ssh and ssh tunnels X. You don't even have to set DISPLAY. Any reason you are not tunneling your X through ssh?
