fedora 8 test 3 - vmware problem

Did anyone have any success running vmware under fedora 8? Due to the 2.6.23 kernel, the vmware-config.pl gives compilation errors which get resolved on applying vmware-any-any-update. However, on running vmware, there is an issue with timers since the refresh happen extremely fast due to which it uses 100% cpu constantly.

Did anyone manage to run vmware successfully un Fedora 8?

The vmware-any-any update didn't work for me, VMWare Server 1.0.4 won't install on Fedora 7 with a 2.6.23 kernel. I've read that there is a relatively simple (albeit not legal) fix involving re-branding vmmon as GPL. However, I can't find a patch to actually do that anywhere!

Update, now it's working for me. turns out I was missing gcc-c++, which is weird, because I hadn't uninstalled it (checked the yum log) and I had successfully installed VMWare Server 1.0.3 on several kernels.

Either way, it now works for me with a CentOS 4 guest, and the CPU doesn't sit at 100%, although VMWare does use about 25% CPU pretty much constantly. I plan to switch to Xen once F8 comes out.
