Question Possibly memory leak in F13

Hi All

I have recently installed F13 on my PC with C2D E7500, 2GB RAM and Intel G31 MoBo. I have 2 hard-drives in my PC, one 500GB Hitachi and one 160GB GB Seagate, both SATA. I installed F13 on 160GB hard-drive. I already had 2 installations of Win 7 on my 500GB hard-drive.

Everything worked fine. But it seems like F13 is having a memory leak problem.
I ran "free" command in the terminal window. I showed the amount of memory and swap file used. Now there are two problems I am facing:

(1) After opening and closing applications, I ran "free" command. In every run, is shows the amount of RAM used always increasing, until it reaches about 1.9GB+ used (less than 100 MB free), and applications start very slowly. But interestingly, System Monitor application shows memory usage as normal.

(2) I have created a swap partition of 3072 MB (1.5 times of my 2 GB RAM). It always shows up 0 MB used. The System Monitor application also verifies the results.

Any clues please?

Thanks in advance

Re: Possibly memory leak in F13

Linux memory management is different from Windows because it tries not to waste available RAM - i.e. RAM that is not used is considered a waste. Therefore, Linux uses that RAM as cache. For more info look here:
