Omnivision webcam not working

This used to work in pre-2012 distros 'out of the box' but no luck with any of the main distros this year. The cam is integrated into a Dell LCD and lsusb shows its ID as:

Bus 003 Device 004: ID 05a9:264a OmniVision Technologies, Inc.

uvcvideo is loaded but the device just isn't recognised -- cheese, skype, UCView and Camorama all fail.

Just trying Fedora 17 after a long break and I'm impressed, but could do with this working. Any ideas anyone?

Re: Omnivision webcam not working

1.You may experience these issues when the webcam drivers are corrupted or its settings are incorrect.
