Can't play any videos

I used to work with Mandrake Linux, but I don't like the new 10.1, so I downloaded the FC3 DVD Image yesterday.

FC3 is really nice, I allready got NTFS and my speedtouch modem running, but I just can't play any video files.

With Totem I get the error "Failed to open; reason unknown". In Helix Player, i get the message "Can't play content. Following components are missing: mpg" (or something similar, I'm using the german version).

PC is a AhtlonXP 2500+ with Radeon8500LE.

I installed FC3 on my Laptop too (P4m1.6, Radeon7500), same problem there.

This is a common issue with Fedora/RedHat... Due to Licencing / Legal issues, they are reluctant to add any non-open-source software... Including most popular video and audio codecs. To get full support, you need to download Xine or MPlayer or VideoLan as well as a codec pack to get full video playback / encoding support. I'd suggest installing the apt / synaptic package manger from atrpms.net and using that to install any needed software.
