Exclamation Android 32 bit packages on 64 bit machine-- install fails...

What would cause an attempt to load 32 bit packages on a 64 bit machine if the correct package name is a given and install ebing done under root? Can one force install? TIA. V.

yum install glib.i686

# repo connections here #

glib.i686 1:1.2.10-35.fc16 glibc.i686 0:2.14.90-24.fc16.7 nss-softokn-freebl.i686 0:3.13.4-1.fc16
