notebook sound problem

On my gateway 7405GX notebook computer fedora core 3 installed smoothly. It apparently cannot detect my computer's sound card. My computer works well with fedora core 3 linux but without sound. Is there an upgrade or patch that can fix this? This notebook has a mobile athlon 64 processor if that makes a difference.

It turns out that while installing and immediately after installation, the mute was on. All I had to do was unmute the sound.
