Here's what I've got:
  1. Kernel 2.6.11-1.27_FC3
  2. Fedora Core 3
  3. Xorg 6.8.2
  4. ATI Mobility Radeon IGP 340M
  5. Secondary monitor is a HYUNDAI ImageQuest L72D
  6. Pavilion ze4229 notebook

Tried so far:
  1. I've tried to use the GUI interface to tweak parameters
  2. I've manually edited the Xorg.conf file tweaking a couple things

I cannot get this thing to span the desktop across two monitors. However, it does display a cloned image on both monitors by just plugging it into the notebook, but of course I'm trying to improve my productivity by using multiple monitors instead of ALT+TAB switching all the time.

Now for the diagnosis:

I found this in the Xorg logfile:
(WW) RADEON(0): Failed to detect secondary monitor, MergedFB/Clone mode disabled
.
.
(a few seconds in time pass and millions of poor little electrons get churned up in circuit land)
.
.

Any ideas?
