Exclamation libglib failure: Gnome fails to start

I recently installed NetworkManager .5.1 with -gnome and -devel from rpms (not yum) on the redhat website. After the restart, my Fedora 4 box gave me several errors when x would usually start:

/usr/bin/rhgb-client: error while loading shared libraries:
libglib-2.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
When I try to start x using startx, the x appears in the middle of the normal background, but after a second the x server shuts down again:

/usr/bin/gnome-session: error while loading shared libraries:
libgobject-2.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
I have tried installing and updating gnome-session and glib and glib2, but yum seems pretty much inoperative. I would really appreciate any suggestions to rectify this problem, as the next thing I would probably try is reinstalling Fedora. Thanks!
